Practice Areas
Chris is an Oregon native born and raised in Tualatin. He graduated from Portland State University with a degree in political science with honors and earned his law degree from Willamette University College of Law.
Chris’s career in law began from his larger interest in public service. He was elected to the Tualatin City Council at age 18 and served two terms while attending college and law school. As a city councilor, Chris was active in all areas relating to municipal governance. His specific responsibilities included helping create policy in land use planning, city finances and budget, economic development, public safety, and regional growth.
Chris also represented the council at the county and regional level including Washington County Cooperative Library Services and Washington County Commission on Children and Families. Concurrent with his tenure on council, he served as a commissioner on the Tualatin Development Commission where he helped govern all urban renewal areas within the city.
During law school, he continued to pursue his interest in public policy and the law. Specifically, Chris worked as a law clerk in Oregon Governor Kulongowski’s Office of General Counsel and later with Marion County Office of Legal Counsel. As a law clerk with the Governor’s Office, he worked primarily as support to staff and assisted in reviewing petitions for pardon and clemency. His work with Marion County Legal Counsel was in evaluating Measure 37 Claims and providing research support to staff attorneys in the office. After passing the Oregon Bar, Chris went into private practice focusing primarily on family law. He has also worked with a local nonprofit dealing with issues involving domestic violence and witnessed firsthand the important role legal counsel plays in supporting families during crisis.
Chris has expanded his practice to include personal injury cases, general civil litigation, and estate planning. Chris serves on the Multnomah Bar Association’s Small Firm and Solo Committee and Oregon Trial Lawyers Legislative Affairs Committee.
Chris lives Southwest Portland with his beautiful wife, Jill. He is also a proud “Bonus Dad” to Simon, Elsa, and Fiona. When he is not working, Chris can often be found at Powell’s or Annie Bloom’s Bookstore. His favorite movie is “Coolhand Luke” with Paul Newman.
